What the Pioneer Remote App covers
Pioneer Remote App is a phone remote for Pioneer AV receivers, stereo systems and home theater amplifiers. The developer describes it as working with compatible Pioneer products, so what you can do depends on the unit you own. It is aimed at people who already have Pioneer gear and want to run it from a phone instead of the handset.
Volume, input and listening mode control
The app puts the core remote functions on your phone: volume, input source selection and listening mode. Switching inputs or listening modes from the phone means you do not need to reach for the physical remote for those changes.
Streaming music to a Pioneer system from a phone
Music can come from streaming services including Spotify, Tidal, Deezer and Pandora. It can also come from the music library on your phone or from a NAS drive on compatible products. Radio, Bluetooth and USB are listed as additional sources on the unit.
Tuning sound with EQ, channel levels and room correction
The app adjusts the equalizer, the channel level of each individual speaker, and the bass and treble. These controls are there to match personal taste rather than a fixed preset. For Dirac Live enabled products, the app runs an automatic measurement of the room's sound field and applies correction. The filters from that correction can be edited in the app.
Operating a Blu-ray player or TV through an AV amplifier
When a Pioneer Blu-ray player or TV is connected to a Pioneer AV amplifier or home theater unit over HDMI, the app can control that device as well. Powering the unit on from the app depends on the Network Standby menu item in the unit's initial settings being switched on.
