What Samsung Mobile Print does on an Android device
Samsung Mobile Print is a printing app for Samsung laser printers. It runs on an Android phone or tablet and sends jobs over a wireless connection, so the device does not need a cable to reach the printer.
The same app covers three jobs: printing, faxing and scanning. Most people will use it to get a document off their phone and onto paper, or to bring a scan back to the phone.
Printing documents, photos and web pages from a phone
The app prints Office documents, PDF files, images and emails. It also prints web pages and content from social network sites. Files can come from the phone's own storage or from Google Drive.
Because the printing path is the same for each source, a Word file saved in Drive and a photo taken on the phone are both sent to the printer from the same screen. Nothing needs to be copied to the phone first.
Sending faxes from an Android device
The app can also send a fax from the phone to a Samsung printer that supports faxing. The document is chosen the same way as a print job, then sent wirelessly.
This lets a phone stand in for a computer when a fax needs to go out from a document already on the device.
Scanning to PDF, JPG or PNG and sharing the result
Samsung Mobile Print scans from a networked multifunction device and saves the result as a PDF, a JPG or a PNG. The choice of format is made when the scan is saved.
Once a scan is on the phone, it can be shared with a single tap. That makes the app useful for getting a signed form or receipt from a printer to someone else without a computer in between.
