SchoolTool Mobile is the phone companion to SchoolTool, the student information system that school districts use to keep records on their students. It is aimed at parents and students who want to check a student's school records from a phone instead of a desktop.
The app is limited to districts that run SchoolTool. Access depends on connection information from your school district, so a parent or student without it cannot sign in. The wider system stores more kinds of record, but the app's views cover assignments, grades, schedules and attendance.
The app shows a student's grades and the assignments tied to them. A parent can look up where a student stands in a class without waiting for a report card or a call to the school office.
Students can use the same views to see what work is due and how they have scored on it. Both groups read the same records, so a parent and a student looking at one class see the same grades.
Schedules show the student's classes as the school has set them up. Attendance shows the student's recorded presence, so a parent can see whether an absence has been logged.
Both views sit in the same app as grades and assignments, so checking a day's classes and whether they were attended takes the same few taps as checking a score.
The app can send real-time notifications, so a parent or student hears about school activity as it is recorded rather than when they next open the app. The listing does not describe the kinds of event that trigger one, so what arrives depends on how the district's SchoolTool setup is configured.
