What Shortcut Maker is for
Shortcut Maker is a personalization app for placing shortcuts on the Android home screen. The shortcut can point at an installed app's screen, a file or folder, a system settings toggle, or a website you visit often.
You choose the type of target from the app's feature list and tap create. The app then adds the shortcut to your home screen, so the thing you open most often is one tap away.
Shortcuts to apps, activities and system intents
The Apps and Activities option makes a shortcut to an installed app, including specific screens inside it, not just the app's main icon. The Intents option covers Android system intents and launches each one with its default app.
The Custom option takes a shortcut from an installed app and lets you edit it before creating it. It is marked in the app as an extra feature.
Shortcuts to files, folders and websites
The Folder and Files option creates a shortcut to a folder or file in internal storage, so you can open it from the home screen without navigating through a file manager.
The Website option saves a shortcut to a site you choose, which is useful for pages you open repeatedly.
Quick Settings, requested features and feedback
The Quick Settings option creates shortcuts that change system settings directly, so a common toggle can sit on the home screen instead of inside the settings menu.
The User Requested section holds features that users have asked for. A separate Contact me shortcut opens an email to the developer with suggestions.
Previewing, renaming and tracking shortcuts
After you pick an activity, the app shows a preview of the shortcut before it is created. In the preview you can rename the shortcut and mark it as a favourite.
Created shortcuts appear in a History list, and shortcuts you have marked appear in a Favourites list, so you can find and manage them again later.
