What the app does while your phone charges

StandBy Mode turns a phone, tablet or foldable into a clock for when it sits on a charger. It is based on the StandBy screen in iOS, and the developer positions it for bedside and desk use.

The clock fills the screen, and widgets can sit next to it. The listing says the text is sized to be readable from across a room.

Choosing and styling a clock face

The app offers more than 100 clock faces. The named styles include a digital clock with the date, a segmented LCD clock, a flip clock, a neon clock, an analog clock with digital time, a solar clock, a Matrix style, pixel art, a word clock, Roman numerals, a world clock and a large Pixel-style crop clock.

On each face you can change colors, fonts and sizes. The developer says this lets one app serve as a bedside clock at night and a desk clock in a home office.

Widgets for music, calendar and weather

The format is fixed to these four pieces of information, so it presents the same layout each time the screen is checked.
