Sony | Creators' App

What the Sony Creators' App is for

Sony | Creators' App pairs a Sony camera with an Android phone. It is aimed at photographers and video shooters who want to move files off the camera and control parts of it without touching the body. Connection steps and the list of supported camera models are on Sony's support page.

Once paired, the phone also gives access to Creators' Cloud, Sony's online platform for storing files, editing video with cloud AI and reading articles for creators.

Moving photos and videos off a Sony camera

Transfers can run while the camera is shooting, or while it is switched off or charging. You can send files to a phone or to cloud storage. The app can also send only the shots you rated or marked in advance, so you do not copy the whole card.

Remote shooting and checking the camera from a phone

The phone becomes a remote shutter, which is useful for group photos taken from a distance or night scenes where pressing the button would shake the camera. From the same screen you can read the battery level and memory card status, and set the date, time and camera name.

Saving camera settings and updating firmware

You can store settings for different shooting situations on the phone and push them to the camera when you need them. Settings can be saved for more than one camera, which the developer says speeds up changes during a shoot. Software update notices appear in the app, and camera firmware can be updated from the phone.
