By Mei-Lin Chua
Contributing editor, apps and storefronts
Star Trek Fleet Command is an online, open-world strategy game set in the Star Trek universe. You start as the commander of a star base at the edge of the frontier and build outward from there. The listing rates it Teen.
Most of the play is about managing that base, your officers and your fleet, while factions compete for territory. The listing places the story during a war between Federation, Klingon and Romulan forces over the Alpha and Beta quadrants.
The build we hold is Star Trek Fleet Command 1.000.52629 (APKS split bundle) for Android 7.0 and up.

You recruit officers, which the listing describes as hundreds of characters including James T. Kirk, Spock and Nero. Each officer has tactical abilities, and you deploy them in missions and battles.
Ships are collected, built and upgraded over time. The listing names the U.S.S. Enterprise, the Romulan Warbird and the Klingon Bird of Prey among the ships you can field.
Missions cover a range of roles, such as helping local populations, fighting pirates and negotiating peace. The listing says there are hundreds of storylines and missions in total.
The storyline is set in the Kelvin Timeline and draws on the J.J. Abrams films, the original series, Deep Space Nine, The Next Generation, Discovery, Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks. The listing also mentions an ancient secret that could shift the balance of power.
You can join an existing player alliance or create your own. Alliances contest star systems together, and the listing says you fight other players and cooperate with thousands of people online.
Because the game is online and shared, your fleet's position depends on what other commanders are doing in the same galaxy.
Your star base needs building, upgrading and defending. Progress unlocks new technologies and resources, which the listing presents as necessary for advancing.
The listing says the universe changes through monthly free live updates, and that the game is available in multiple languages.
