What Swift Backup covers and who it suits
Swift Backup is an Android app for backing up and restoring your device. It suits people who want to keep their apps, messages, call logs and files before switching phones, resetting a device or going back to an older copy.
Every backup is managed from one screen, whichever storage you choose, so the storage decision stays with you. Some items need extra access on the device, covered in the sections below.
Backing up apps, messages and files
Installed apps can be saved as APK files, so an app can be reinstalled from the copy later. Messages, call logs, folders, files and applied wallpapers can be included in a backup as well.
Saved Wi-Fi networks can be backed up only with Root or Shizuku. App data and selected app settings are also limited to rooted devices.
Choosing where backups are saved
Backups can be written to internal storage, an SD card or a USB drive, where the device supports them. For cloud storage, the app connects to Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox and Box, and also to Mega.nz, pCloud, Filen, Yandex.Disk and Cloud Mail.Ru.
Self-hosted options include WebDAV, which covers Nextcloud, ownCloud and compatible NAS devices, and S3-compatible storage. Server targets include SMB, SFTP, FTP, FTPS and FTPES, for backups sent to a file server or a machine you run yourself.
Restoring to a new phone or an earlier backup
The listing gives three reasons to restore: switching to a new phone, resetting the current one, or returning to an earlier backup. Restores use the same storage choices as backups.
Because a copy can sit on a NAS, a server or a cloud account, it stays available after the original phone is gone.
