What Toast Tables is for

Toast Tables is a host stand tool for restaurants that run on Toast POS. It requires a Toast Tables account and is meant for hosts and operators at Toast restaurants.

The developer says some of the same features are also available on Toast Web, so the app is not the only way in. Its core job is keeping the waitlist, reservations and table layout in step with what the POS already knows.

Managing the waitlist and reservations

The app holds the waitlist and reservations in one place for the host. It gives estimated wait times based on how quickly tables are expected to turn.

Table status comes straight from the POS and updates in real time without manual entry. That lets a host see which tables are open or about to clear before quoting a guest.

Seating by cover counts and server rotation

Seating decisions can draw on built-in cover counts, so a party is placed at a table that fits its size. The app also tracks server rotation, which the developer describes as a way to spread seating across staff.

Used together, the cover counts and rotation let a host seat parties without checking a separate sheet or asking the floor each time.

Guest notes, VIP tags and texting

Hosts can attach notes and preferences to a guest and mark regulars as VIPs, so the details carry from one visit to the next. These notes sit alongside the waitlist and reservation record.

The app sends automated notifications and supports two-way SMS, so a host can text a guest about a table being ready and receive replies in the same thread.
