What Ultimate USB is for

Ultimate USB is a toolkit for working on USB drives from an Android phone. You connect the drive with an OTG cable, and the app covers bootable drive creation, formatting, partitioning, drive testing and some retro game file handling. It is aimed at people who set up or repair PCs and need to prepare drives away from a desktop, and at owners who keep PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 games on USB.

Most functions run without root access. The internal SD slot is the one the listing says needs root. The app is built around FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS and EXT2, EXT3 and EXT4 file systems.

Making bootable USB drives and installers

Ventoy is included as an unofficial build. It puts many ISO files on one USB drive and lets you pick one at boot. You can install, update or clean Ventoy on the drive, with Secure Boot support, 4K alignment, MBR or GPT, and FAT32, exFAT or NTFS. ISO files can be copied from the phone or downloaded straight to the drive.

The ISO burner writes Windows 7 through 11, Linux, Apple DMG, Raspberry Pi, MS-DOS and FreeDOS images. For Windows, it can skip the Microsoft account, create a local account, turn off BitLocker and data collection, and bypass TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and 4 GB RAM checks. Windows To Go makes a portable Windows that runs from the drive. Linux persistence keeps files and changes between boots, and Raw Write copies any image byte for byte.

Formatting, partitioning and testing drives

Format USB covers FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS and EXT2 to EXT4, with MBR or GPT, cluster size and volume label. The Partition Wizard creates, deletes, formats, renames, wipes, backs up and restores partitions, and converts between MBR and GPT. Changes can be undone until you apply them.

Bad Blocks Check writes and verifies test data to find failing sectors and drives that report more capacity than they hold. USB Defragmenter consolidates fragmented files on FAT32 and exFAT. Wipe USB erases all data and partitions permanently, and Backup and Restore makes a byte-by-byte image of the whole device. Device Info and Benchmark shows vendor, product, serial and block size, plus sequential and random speed tests.

Browsing drive files and handling retro game images

USB File Manager copies, moves, deletes, renames, searches and sorts files on the drive, and can open drive files in other apps without copying them to the phone. Partition Mounter attaches partitions, including hidden ones, to the Android Files app as read-only or read/write. Partition Image Manager creates, opens and browses .img and .bk images. Archive Extractor handles 7z, RAR, ZIP, ISO, TAR, GZip, BZip2, WIM, CAB, DEB and RPM archives, including password-protected ones. Extracting straight to USB is a Pro feature.

For PS2, PS2 USB Utils adds, removes, renames, organizes and exports games, using direct copy or UL split for ISOs of 4 GB and larger. It also handles OPL playlists, ul.cfg regeneration, artwork downloads, and PS1 .VCD import for POPStarter. PS3 ISO Tools builds ISOs from folders, extracts them, patches the target CFW version, splits for FAT32, joins segments and extracts SFO and icon files. Game Converter changes ISO to ZSO, CSO, CHD or VCD, BIN/CUE to ISO or CHD, and ZSO to CSO at maximum compression.

Hardware support, tokens and running jobs

Supported hardware is flash drives, portable SSDs, card readers and OTG hubs. The listing says HDDs are not officially supported because of power limits. Keep the app in the foreground, since operations pause when it is minimized to protect the drive.

The free version shows ads and needs internet for them. Ventoy install and update, ISO burning, formatting and the Partition Wizard cost 1 to 3 tokens each, and you earn tokens by watching one short ad. Tokens are stored on the device, so clearing app data or uninstalling removes them. Pro is a one-time lifetime purchase tied to your account. It removes ads and tokens, adds archive extraction straight to USB, and allows full offline use.
