What RS File Manager is for
RS File Manager is a file explorer for Android phones, tablets and Android TV. Its main job is letting you reach files stored in several places from one app: the device itself, an SD card, a USB drive, cloud drives and a NAS.
It suits anyone whose files are spread across those locations and who would rather not switch between separate apps to find, move or unpack them. The developer also describes it as handling common document, photo, music and video formats directly.
Browsing phone, SD card, USB and cloud storage
Internal storage, SD cards and USB OTG drives appear side by side on the home screen. You can copy, move, rename, delete and search across them. When a large batch runs into files that already exist at the destination, the app has conflict handling to deal with it.
Files show in grid or list view, sorted by name, type, size or date. Photos and video display as thumbnails so you can find a clip without opening each one. Cloud drives and NAS are browsed the same way as local storage.
Creating and extracting ZIP, RAR and 7z files
You can create ZIP and 7z archives with a password, a chosen compression level and split volumes, which divide one archive into several smaller files. Archives can also be made password protected for sharing.
The app extracts ZIP, RAR, 7z, TAR, GZ, BZ2 and CAB files. An archive opens like a normal folder, so you can pull out only the files you need instead of unpacking the whole thing.
Opening PDF, Word, Excel and media files
According to the developer, PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents open inside the app, along with photos, music and video. The listing says none of these need a separate app installed to view them.
Because previews and playback are part of the same file list, the usual step of finding the right app for each file type is handled from one place.
