What the voice changer app is for

Voice Changer - Sound Effects is a voice effects app for Android. It is aimed at people who want to sound like someone else in a recording: for pranks, for jokes shared on social media, or for a short video with a funny voice over it.

The effects range from a man or girl voice to robot, monster, alien and zombie voices, along with animal sounds. The developer also presents it as a way to make a custom ringtone and to turn written text into audio.

Changing your voice with sound effects

The core of the app is a set of more than 30 voice and sound effects. The developer says each one is applied with a single tap, so you can switch between a deep robot voice, a squirrel and a chipmunk without setting up anything.

The gender effects are the simplest use: a man voice or a girl voice applied to your own speech. The monster, alien and zombie effects cover the more theatrical end of the list, and the animal effects add squirrel and chipmunk voices for extra silliness.

Turning text into audio for video dubbing

The listing says you can turn text into audio and use it to dub videos. The developer describes this as available in a range of styles, so the same written line can come out as a different character each time.

This is the feature for anyone who wants a voiceover without recording their own voice. It sits alongside the voice effects, so a text-based line and a changed recording can both be used in the same video.

Recording, editing and adding effects

The app's summary describes recording your voice, editing the result and adding effects to it. Those steps are the basic workflow the developer lists for turning a spoken line into a finished clip.

The developer also mentions ringtones, so a changed voice clip may be used for that purpose. The listing does not go into detail on how the ringtone part works.
