What the Samsung 4K wallpaper app is for

Wallpapers for Samsung 4K is a wallpaper library aimed at Samsung Galaxy phones. It holds images in Full HD, 4K, 6K and 8K, and it is set up to find a background for a mood, a theme or a specific color. The developer says it is designed for One UI.

Someone who wants a new home screen picture, or who likes to rotate backgrounds on a regular basis, is the person it is built for. The browsing and search tools suit people who know roughly what they want as well as people who are just looking.

Browsing, sorting and searching the image library

The library is split into more than 70 categories. Each one can be sorted by newest, by rating or by popularity, so the top results in a category depend on which order you choose. The developer says images are moderated by hand to keep the catalog focused on quality.

Search works on keywords and tags, and it also matches colors. That helps when you want a background that fits a color scheme or a set of icons, not just a named subject.

Setting wallpapers for home and lock screen

Each image can be previewed and cropped before it is applied. Crop and placement are set separately for the home screen and the lock screen, so one picture can be framed differently on each.

A change schedule can rotate wallpapers automatically on the home screen and the lock screen. The listing describes this as a way to keep the screens changing without manual steps.

Saving wallpapers and managing mobile data

A wallpaper can be saved to the phone's gallery or to an SD card, where the device supports one. That lets you apply it later without going back to the library.

Preview quality can be set to reduce mobile data use when the phone is not on Wi-Fi. The listing presents this as a way to keep browsing from using up a data plan.
