What the app connects and who it is for

Apple Watch for Android is a companion app that links an Android phone to an Apple Watch. The developer, Boss Inc, describes it for people who wear an Apple Watch but carry an Android phone.

Once connected, the watch is the place where incoming phone activity shows up. The listing centres on notifications, health tracking and basic control of calls and messages from the wrist.

Notifications on the watch

Incoming calls, text messages, social app notifications and general updates are sent to the Apple Watch as they arrive. The listing also says reminders, calendar events and other alerts reach the watch.

The point is to see what arrived without taking the phone out. Each alert appears on the wrist, so the phone can stay in a pocket or bag.

Handling calls, messages and contacts from the wrist

The listing says calls, messages, contacts and app alerts can be managed directly from the watch. It does not break down which actions are available for each one.

This section of the app is about control, as opposed to just viewing alerts. It lets the watch act as a small remote for the Android phone's communication.

Fitness, activity and workout tracking

The listing advertises fitness and activity tracking through the Apple Watch, along with the ability to monitor personal goals. Workouts are named as something the app tracks.

These features run alongside the notification side, so the watch covers both daily alerts and activity logging. The listing does not say which metrics are recorded or how they are shown on the phone.
