What the WiFi Manager & Data Monitor app does
WiFi Manager & Data Monitor is an Android tool for looking at the WiFi network your phone is connected to, along with the other devices sharing it. The listing presents it as a way to see connected devices, track data use and check how the network is performing. It suits someone who wants to know what is using their connection and how strong that connection is.
Most of its screens are read-only views of the network, so the app works as a monitor first. The listing does not describe changing settings on the router or on other devices.
Seeing which devices are on your network
The connected devices screen lists every device currently joined to the WiFi network. For each device it shows how much data that device has consumed, which makes it possible to see which one is using the most.
Each entry carries its IP address. The screen also shows the gateway address and your external IP address, the public address the network presents to the internet.
Checking signal strength and network details
Signal strength and connection speed are shown in real time for the network you are on. Alongside them, the app reports the frequency band, the BSSID, the channel, the SSID and the host name.
Because the band and channel sit on the same screen as the signal figure, the two can be read together without switching views.
Scanning nearby WiFi networks and switching
The scan lists WiFi networks within range of the phone. From that list you can move between available networks without going through the system settings.
Your currently connected network is highlighted among the results, so it is easy to pick out from the other networks in range.
