What WordPress for Android is used for

This is the phone version of WordPress, the publishing system that the developer says powers over a third of the web. You use it to build a site from a theme or to run a blog, and to write, schedule and manage posts from the same app. The listing names hobby blogs, small businesses and online stores as typical uses.

Setting up a site with themes and templates

Choose a look from a selection of WordPress themes, then change the photos, colors and fonts to fit your own style. Built-in Quick Start tips cover the setup basics for a new site, so the first steps are shown inside the app rather than in a separate guide.

Writing, scheduling and adding media to posts

The editor handles updates, stories, photo essays and announcements. Photos and video can come from your camera or albums, or from an in-app collection of free-to-use professional photography. Unfinished work is kept as drafts, and posts can be set to publish on a future date. Tags and categories are added to posts to help new readers find them.

Tracking traffic and replying to comments

Site stats update in real time, so you can see current activity on the site. Traffic can be viewed by day, week, month or year, and the stats show which posts and pages get the most visits over time. Notifications report new comments, likes and followers as they happen, and you can reply to comments from the phone.

Reading other blogs and sharing posts on social media

The reader section lets you browse topics by tag and find authors and organizations to follow. Posts you want to return to can be saved for later. For sharing, the app can post to your social media accounts automatically when you publish, and it can add share buttons to your posts so visitors can pass them on. The developer says the content you publish stays yours and can be moved elsewhere.
