What YesWriter is for and who it suits
YesWriter is a writing and notes app for Android. The developer aims it at novels and other literary work, and also at brainstorming, journals, memos and to-do lists.
Writing is grouped into books, and books and notes can be filed into folders. The listing says the number of folders is unlimited, and it describes the app as usable as a notebook, a journal or a memo pad.
Formatting text and combining it with images
Text can be styled with its own color, font style, size and line spacing. Images can be placed among the text in the same note, so a page can hold both written sections and pictures.
The developer presents this for illustrated or visually planned writing, such as a story with reference images or a notes page with sketches.
Managing chapters, storylines and sorting
For novels, the listing mentions tools for arranging chapters and storylines inside a book. Books can be grouped by category, which the developer suggests for separating daily writing from longer projects.
Books and texts can be sorted by date, by name, or placed in a manual order you set yourself.
To-do lists and daily planning
Tasks are created as to-dos inside the app. Each task can carry a priority and a deadline, and it can be pinned to the Android notification bar so it stays visible outside the app.
The notebook and memo features are described as a way to lay out daily plans alongside the to-dos.
Locking, backing up and sharing your writing
Individual books, notes and folders can be protected with a password. Backup goes to Google Drive, and the listing says it can run automatically if you turn that option on.
Notes and text can be exported as images and shared with others. The developer also lists a dark theme, and says the interface has no ads.
