What Zoho People Kiosk is for
Zoho People Kiosk is an attendance app for workplaces where staff work on site, such as warehouses and construction sites. The developer presents it as a replacement for a wall-mounted punch clock, without the dedicated clock hardware.
It is aimed at companies that want to record attendance for an onsite workforce from one fixed spot, using a device they already have.
Facial check-in on a shared tablet
The companion app runs on a tablet or any internet-enabled device. When a worker checks in or out, the app captures an image of their face and matches it to their employee profile ID in Zoho People.
Once the match is verified, the entry is recorded without anyone typing in a time. The developer says this removes manual entries and the errors that come with them.
Preventing buddy punching and unauthorized entry
The developer says the facial match is meant to restrict the workplace to authorized employees. It is also meant to guard against identity theft, buddy punching (one person clocking in for another) and other fraud.
Because each check-in is checked against the employee's own profile, a punch made under someone else's identity is what the system is described as built to catch.
Hours, overtime and payroll from Zoho People
Verified entries are stored in Zoho People, where the developer says working hours are tracked and overtime is calculated. The same attendance data can be used for payroll processing.
Kiosk links to an existing Zoho People account, so the records sit in that system rather than in a separate timesheet kept by the app.
