Apple Music Classical is a standalone Android app from Apple for listening to classical music. It is included with an Apple Music subscription at no extra cost, according to the listing, so it uses the same account as the main service.
The developer positions it for two groups: people who want to move through classical repertoire in depth, and newcomers who want a guided route into the genre.
The developer describes the catalog as the largest classical music catalog in the world and says the search was built for the genre. The listing gives no further detail on how search results are arranged.
The app is ad-free, so browsing and searching the catalog involves no advertising.
Time-synced listening guides follow many popular works as they play, so a listener can see the structure of a piece while it is playing. The developer also lists hundreds of Essentials playlists and written composer biographies to give background on who wrote what.
Recommendations draw on recently played composers, instruments and periods. A listener who has been playing a particular era or instrument will see suggestions shaped by that history.
