What Canon PRINT is for

Canon PRINT is a companion app for Canon printers. It covers the routine of owning one: connecting the printer, starting print and scan jobs, checking supplies and sending work through the cloud. It suits someone who already owns a supported Canon printer and wants to run it from an Android device.

Connecting a Canon printer to the app

The app guides setup, which is the first step before any printing. The connection modes named in the listing are Ad Hoc and Infrastructure. The SELPHY CP900 does not support Ad Hoc mode, so it has to be connected in Infrastructure mode.

Printing, scanning and cloud printing

Once a printer is set up, the app starts print jobs and scans from the Android device. Printing can also go through the cloud instead of directly to the printer. Some functions depend on the printer model and the environment.

Checking ink and toner levels

The app checks consumable levels on the printer, so you can see how much supply is left before a job fails. The listing names this as one of its handy functions, alongside setup, printing and scanning.
