What Chord Tracker is for

Chord Tracker is a music app for people who want the chords to a song without working them out by ear. It analyses the audio files stored on your device and displays the chord symbols it finds.

The listing presents it as a practice and performance aid. You pick a song from your device, and the app gives you a chord chart to follow.

Extracting chords from songs on your device

The app works on audio already saved on the device, so there is no separate library to build. It takes the chord sequence from the track and shows it as chord symbols.

Songs protected by DRM cannot be analysed. Any file under that protection will not produce a chart.

Reading the chord chart while you play

The output is a chord chart on the device screen. You read the sequence and play the chords along with the song.

The listing describes this as a way to practise and perform songs, which is the use the chart is built around.

How closely the chords match the original

The listing says the chords match the mood of the original song very closely. It also says they may not be an exact match for the chords the original recording uses.

Treat the chart as a guide to the harmony rather than a transcription of the recording.
