What Classic Drum is for

Classic Drum is a drum-playing app for phones and tablets, aimed at people who want to learn drums or practise along with music without owning an acoustic or electronic kit. The listing describes your fingers on the screen as the drumsticks.

It combines three things: video lessons, a set of loops to play along with, and a sequencer for writing your own beats. Each one is covered below.

Learning drums with video lessons and loops

The app includes video lessons that the developer lists as assistance for learning to play. They sit alongside a collection of loops, which are backing tracks you play over.

Together these give a beginner something to follow and something to play against, without needing a teacher or a second musician.

Building beats in the step sequencer

The sequencer is a grid of steps. You switch steps on, combine different drum sounds on them, and the pattern repeats while the music plays.

The listing presents this as a way to try different combinations and find new patterns. It is the part of the app where you write your own rhythms rather than play along with existing ones.

Percussion sounds for playing any music

The listing says the app offers a diverse range of percussion instruments, with what the developer calls high-quality sounds, so you can play along with whatever music you choose. Those sounds are what the screen pads and sequencer both draw on.

Because the instruments are on the device, the listing presents it as a way to play drums when you have no physical drum set nearby.
