Cloaked: Protect your privacy

What Cloaked is for

Cloaked is aimed at people who want to limit how much of their real information reaches companies, marketers and scammers. The listing ties this to spam, identity theft and financial fraud, since exposed personal data is often what feeds them. The app is built around hiding your details when you sign up for things or shop online.

The developer describes it as suitable for families as well as individuals. Its main tools are disposable-style contact details and a service that removes your information from public broker databases.

Making aliases for signups and shopping

Cloaked generates email addresses and phone numbers that work, so you can give those instead of your own. It also generates passwords. The listing says that using aliases for new accounts and swapping out older logins cuts down on spam and limits how much of your identity is exposed.

The listing says the alias count is unlimited. Virtual credit cards are described as a planned addition, not something the listing presents as available now.

Removing your data from data brokers

The app scans data broker sites for your name, address, age, phone number and email address, then requests their removal. The listing names more than 120 brokers in its coverage.

Removing these records is presented as a way to reduce unwanted contact and the risk of fraud that comes from having your details listed publicly.

Identity theft insurance in the listing

The developer advertises $1 million in identity theft insurance coverage alongside the privacy tools. The listing presents this as protection against the financial costs of identity theft. The listing does not describe how the coverage is claimed.
