A file manager for phones, tablets and Android TV
Cx File Explorer is a file manager that also works as a storage cleaner. The developer lists phones, tablets and Android TV as supported devices, so the same app covers a TV box as well as a handset. It is aimed at people who want a Windows Explorer or Finder style view of their files, with extra tools for managing space.
Files are shown across internal storage, external storage, cloud accounts and network locations. Each source opens in the same browser, so the way you move things around does not change depending on where the files live.
Moving, renaming and organizing files on the device
On internal and external storage you can browse, move, copy, rename, delete and create folders. You can also share files or folders directly from the browser. Compressing and extracting archives are built in, so zipped downloads can be unpacked or new archives made without another app.
The Recycle bin holds deleted files, which the developer describes as a way to manage storage. It sits alongside the rest of the file operations rather than in a separate tool.
Reaching cloud accounts and network shares
Cloud storage accounts can be browsed and managed from inside the app, so files stored online are handled the same way as files on the device. The developer does not describe any separate sync step for this.
For remote or shared storage, the app connects to FTP, FTPS, SFTP, SMB, WebDAV and LAN locations. Going the other way, you can run an FTP connection from your phone so a computer can reach its files. This is useful for moving files between a PC and a phone without a cable.
Checking what uses space and clearing it out
A visual storage analysis shows how the space on the device is being used, so you can see what is taking up room before deleting anything. The developer also lists a storage cleaner that finds junk files, duplicate files and unused apps.
Apps can be managed from within the file manager as well. The listing describes this as viewing and handling the apps installed on the device, so app management and file cleanup happen in one place.
