What the Easy Metronome app is for
Easy Metronome is a metronome for keeping a steady tempo while practising or performing. The listing pitches it at musicians of all levels, from beginners working on lessons to teachers and experienced players who change time signatures often.
The main screen is built around a large visual beat display, so the pulse can be followed from across a room. It runs on phones, tablets and Chromebooks, and it also has a smartwatch version.
Setting the beat, tempo and time signature
A bar can contain up to 16 beats, and each beat can be given extra emphasis or left silent. That makes it possible to drill patterns such as accented groupings in odd meters.
Tempo can be set exactly, or by tapping the beat in time so the metronome follows the player's pace. Time signatures are chosen with a couple of taps, and subdivisions can be changed to work on different playing patterns within each beat.
Beat sounds, colors and the in-app purchase
The beat sounds that come free with the app are available without payment. An optional in-app purchase unlocks more choices, including instrument sounds and meditation sounds.
The visual side can be changed too. Beat colors can be set with themes, and on supported Android versions the colors can be matched to the device wallpaper.
Group rehearsals, tablets, widgets and watches
A practice timer sets how long a session lasts, which helps a band or class keep to a schedule. The large beat display is meant to be readable by everyone in the room when shown on a bigger screen.
Home-screen widgets let the tempo be started without opening the full app. Beat volume and balance can be adjusted separately, which the listing describes as a monitor-style effect. On a Wear OS smartwatch, the metronome works with on-wrist control and a watch tile, for practising without a phone nearby.
What's new
- Added a multi-hour timer for longer practice sessions.
- Extended the tempo range up to 999 BPM.
- Tap the tempo to type in a precise value, including decimals.
- We’ve ironed out some bugs for a smoother experience.
