What Good Lock is for

Good Lock is an app lock. It adds a privacy layer over the apps on an Android phone so that they stay closed to anyone who picks it up. The listing names messages, the gallery, personal tools and work apps as the kinds of software it is meant to guard.

It suits someone who shares a device, or who keeps sensitive conversations, pictures or work accounts on a phone that others might handle.

Locking messaging, gallery and other apps

The core feature is locking individual apps. Once an app is locked, the listing says it cannot be opened without passing the lock, which is the point of the protection. Messaging apps, the photo gallery and personal tools are the cases the listing describes most often.

Because the lock works on the apps already installed, it does not need a separate app to be moved or rebuilt. The listing does not describe how the unlock step itself works.

Locking photos and videos

Good Lock also advertises locking photos and videos, which the summary lists alongside apps. This covers media a person would rather keep out of casual view, such as personal pictures or recordings.

The listing does not say how locked media is stored or where it appears on the phone.

Covering personal and work apps together

The listing places personal tools and work apps in the same group as messages and the gallery, so one lock can cover a mix of private and work software on one device. That makes it relevant to people who run work accounts on a personal phone.

The developer says the app is not an official product of the apps it locks and is not affiliated with them. It is a third-party tool that works across apps it did not create.
