MIDI Commander turns audio into MIDI you can edit, play and share — entirely on your phone.
Pick an audio file and the app listens for the notes in it, then gives you a MIDI version you can fix note by note. Everything runs on your device: no account, no uploads, no waiting on a server.
FROM AUDIO TO NOTES
• Import WAV, MP3, M4A/AAC, FLAC, OGG and Opus files
• Polyphonic transcription finds chords as well as single lines
• Stereo and multichannel files keep each channel as its own track
• SEPARATE + TRANSCRIBE splits a song into vocals, bass and other instruments first, so each part becomes a cleaner track of its own
• A time estimate and progress bar show how long the work will take; separating a full song takes a few minutes
EDIT EVERY NOTE
• A piano-roll editor shows each track's notes against time and pitch
• Tap notes to select them and hear them; add new notes where they are missing
• Move notes up or down by a semitone or an octave, shift them earlier or later, lengthen or shorten them, or delete them
• Undo any edit
• Pinch to zoom, and watch the view follow the playhead as it plays
• Drop two time markers to play just that section or save it as its own MIDI file
• Quantize to eighth or sixteenth notes, or keep the original timing — your edits stay in place either way
PROJECTS AND TRACKS
• Every import becomes a project that saves itself as you work
• Reopen any project from the projects list, or delete the ones you are done with
• Add more tracks to a project from another audio file or a MIDI file
• Import existing MIDI files, with tempo changes followed exactly
• Switch tracks on and off to hear and export just the parts you want
PLAY AND EXPORT
• Play your MIDI through a built-in General MIDI instrument set, at half, normal or double speed
• Save a standard .mid file to your Downloads folder
• Share it with any app that opens MIDI
• Copy the raw MIDI file to the clipboard for another app to paste
• See the exact size of your MIDI in bytes, in both the standard and the compact single-track format
MADE FOR SMALL PAYLOADS
MIDI Commander pairs with NDEF Commander, also from Dangerous Things: copy your MIDI here, paste it there, and write it to an NFC tag or implant. The byte counts show exactly how much space a tune will take before you write it.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your audio, MIDI files and projects never leave your phone unless you save, share or copy them yourself. The app has no account, makes no internet requests of its own, and contains no ads, analytics or crash reporting.
MAKE IT YOURS
Choose the Dangerous Things or Classic look, a colour-vision friendly palette, and how much the interface animates.
GOOD TO KNOW
• Transcription works best on clear, melodic material; drums are not transcribed
• Results are a starting point to edit, not a perfect score
• Saving to Downloads needs Android 10 or newer
MIDI Commander is made by Dangerous Things.
