A lunar calendar for night sky watchers
My Moon Phase is a lunar calendar app for people who follow the moon's cycle day to day. The developer describes a dark design, which suits checking the screen at night. The store summary calls it a moon alerts app covering the lunar calendar, full moons and golden hour.
Most of what it shows is moon data: the current phase, rise and set times, and the next full moon. The photography timings are the other main use the listing points to.
Tracking the moon cycle and full moon dates
The home view shows where the moon currently sits in its cycle. The listing also gives the date of the next full moon, so a user can plan around it without working out the cycle by hand.
The store summary mentions alerts for the lunar calendar and full moons. The description does not say how alerts are set up, so the exact options are not covered here.
Moonrise and moonset times for each day
The app lists the times the moon rises and sets. These are the figures someone would check before going out to watch or photograph the moon from a particular spot.
The listing does not say whether times are set by location or how far ahead they run.
Golden hour and blue hour times for moon photography
For photographers, the app shows when golden hours and blue hours fall. Golden hour is the warm light around sunrise and sunset, and blue hour is the cool light just before sunrise and just after sunset. The developer presents these as timings for taking photos of the moon and the sky.
A user planning a shoot can use the golden and blue hour times alongside the moonrise and moonset times to choose when to be in position.
