A bill split into parts
t2, the Russian mobile operator once called Tele2, is changing how its app produces itemised bills. Subscribers no longer have to order one full report covering every line on the account. They can now pick which part of their usage the report covers.
This is mainly useful to anyone who only wants one answer from a bill: where the money went, or how much mobile data was used. According to the developer's release notes, the report can now cover spending and balance top-ups on their own, mobile internet on its own, or everything together as before.
The second change is about where the report shows up. The developer says it can now be read directly in the app. The changes come in version 6.52.0 of the t2 app on Google Play.
Three ways to cut the report
In Russian, t2 calls the itemised bill a "detalizatsiya". Until now it has worked as one document covering the whole account. A guide on t2's own website explains that the report has been available for all expense groups (calls, SMS and other charges), as a PDF or a spreadsheet, sent to an email address. The same guide says it lists every incoming and outgoing call and SMS with its date and time, and the duration of each call.
Anyone who only needed to check one charge or one month's data use had to search through that whole document. With the new options, a subscriber chooses the scope before ordering. The developer names three: spending and top-ups, internet only, or the full report.
| Report option | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Spending and top-ups | Charges against the balance and money added to it |
| Internet only | Mobile data use |
| Everything | The full report, as before the change |
Opening the report in the app means it no longer has to go through email first. The release notes do not say whether the PDF and spreadsheet options are going away. Customers who rely on a file for expenses or record-keeping will still find email delivery described on t2's website.
Free to order, according to t2
Ordering the report does not cost anything, according to the operator. An explainer published on t2's site some time ago says the report can be ordered free of charge, as a PDF or Excel file, in the personal account on the T2 website or in the t2 mobile app, under the "Svyaz" section and the "Raskhody" (spending) tab. The new options may have changed where the order button sits. The latest release notes do not say.
The app is not the only way to get one. The same explainer says subscribers can also get the report in T2 shops by showing an identity document. It also says the report records promised payments, credits from the company and sales of minutes and data on Market T2, t2's in-house exchange where subscribers trade their unused allowances.
SIM sign-up moved onto Gosuslugi
The billing change follows another app update t2 announced at the end of September. On 30 September the operator said it had removed steps from registering a new SIM card inside the app. As CNews reported, the customer completes the whole process in the T2 app, while the contract is signed through Gosuslugi, with no separate services to install. Gosuslugi is Russia's state services portal.
Before the change, subscribers had to download and set up a separate signing app. Reports of the announcement said that completing the procedure previously required downloading and configuring "Goskey". t2 says it is the first operator in the Russian market to offer seamless SIM self-registration. That claim comes from the operator.
Ivan Rybintsev, t2's director of service development and digitalisation, described the approach in the announcement. He said the company removes extra apps and screens and counts every click. Forbes reported that the change is part of T2's wider approach of simplifying customer journeys.
More apps that work on a negative balance
Earlier in September, t2 also widened a service that matters to anyone who runs out of credit. On 15 September the operator said it had expanded the list of services available to subscribers with a negative balance by updating the service called "Svyaz bez minusov", roughly "connection without minuses".
The operator named the Gosuslugi portal, the MAX messenger, the Ozon marketplace and Magnit among the additions, and also added more major banks. There is no charge and nothing to switch on. According to t2, the service works on all "Moy T2" tariffs as well as "Vezde online", "Khvatit!", Black, "Igrovoy" and Premium, whether the plan is current or archived, and T2 activates it automatically and provides it free of charge.
In October, the operator's press office said it had won three prizes at the Customer Centricity Awards 2026 in Dubai. According to t2, the judges noted the development of T2's digital service, its anti-fraud protections and its human-centred approach to handling enquiries.
An account manager for t2 numbers
The app is t2's self-service tool for subscribers in Russia. Customers can check how many gigabytes and minutes they have left, change their tariff and switch extra services on or off. A home-screen widget shows the balance and remaining allowances.
Payments are a large part of it. Subscribers can top up with a bank card, set up automatic payments from a saved card and use a "Promised Payment" when credit runs low. That is a short-term advance on the balance. Data can also be shared with other t2 subscribers. The developer's listing also promotes partner discounts, cashback and invitations to events.
