Step counter & pedometer to track your daily steps, distance and calories burned
By Irfan Rosli
News editor
Step Counter - Pedometer is a step counter and walking log for Android. It records how many steps you take each day, then converts them into walking distance, active time and estimated calories burned. The developer positions it for people who want to see how much they move and build a more active routine.
Most of the app runs without much input. You tap Start, keep the phone in a hand, pocket, bag or armband, and it records steps through the day. The developer says it uses the phone's built-in sensor to keep battery use down.
The build we hold is Step Counter - Pedometer 1.7.0 (APKS split bundle) for Android 6.0 and up.

Counting starts with one tap, and you can pause, restart or reset the day's count to zero at any time. The counter continues when the screen is locked, according to the developer. It also notes that some phones stop counting with the screen off because of power-saving settings, and that some older devices may not count in that state at all.
Accuracy depends on two things you control. Personal details entered in the settings feed the distance and calorie figures, so the developer asks for accurate entries. A sensitivity setting lets you adjust how readily the counter registers movement.
You set a daily step goal and check progress against it on the main screen. Activity appears in daily, weekly and monthly charts, where steps, distance, calories and active time can be compared across periods. Reminders can be set for walking, drinking water and workouts.
Achievements unlock based on total steps, active days, goal streaks and total walking distance. The developer presents these as a way to stay motivated, and they are tied to the step data the counter records.
Beyond walking, the app includes guided workout plans for fitness, relaxation, sleep and weight loss. You can browse daily exercises, view demonstrations of each one, and review your workout history.
Health logging sits in the same app. You can record water intake, track heart rate, and follow weight and BMI trends over time. The developer describes these as one place for step, workout and body metrics.
Activity data and settings can be backed up to Google Drive and restored later. You can also customize step goals, sensitivity, measurement units and home-screen widgets. Where it is available on your device, the app syncs activity data with Samsung Health.
