TrueDVD+

What TrueDVD+ is for

TrueDVD+ is a movie player for DVD video discs with copy protection. It does not read ordinary discs on its own. It handles the protected discs that a portable DVD writer reads, and it plays them on the Android device the writer is connected to.

The listing ties the app to DiscLink Platinum, Hitachi-LG's disc software, so it is aimed at people who already own one of the supported writers and use that software.

Supported portable DVD writers

The developer lists seven writer models: GPM2, KP95+, KP96, KP99, GP96, GP75Y and GP78Y. Only these models are named as supported, so a writer outside that list is not covered by the listing.

To set up, you connect the writer and the Android device according to the writer's own manual. The listing links to a separate manual for the hardware, which covers the physical connection in more detail.

Starting playback from DiscLink Platinum

When DiscLink Platinum is running and a DVD video is used, TrueDVD+ starts on its own. You do not open it by hand for each disc.

If TrueDVD+ is not installed on the device, the connected flow sends you to its install page instead. The listing describes this as the first step to take when playback does not start.

Playing copy-protected DVD video

Once started, the app plays the video from the disc. The listing describes no other tools, modes or settings, so playback is the whole of what it offers.
