What this spreadsheet app is for
Zoho Sheet is a spreadsheet app for Android phones and tablets. The listing says it is free, with no credit or debit card to link.
You can use it without an account, working on files stored on the device. An account is only needed for online work, such as working with cloud files and sharing. It suits people who keep budgets, timesheets or invoices and want to edit them on a phone or tablet.
Opening and editing existing spreadsheet files
The app opens Excel files in XLSX, XLS, XLSM and XLTM formats, along with CSV, TSV and ODS files. It can read these from storage on the device or from cloud services, and the listing names Box and Dropbox as the supported cloud sources.
You can also create a new spreadsheet from scratch and manage it entirely inside the app, so a file does not have to come from elsewhere first.
Turning paper bills and receipts into sheets
The Data from Picture feature takes a scan of a paper bill, invoice or receipt and converts it into a spreadsheet. The listing says this takes seconds, which is the developer's own estimate.
It is aimed at people who collect paper records and want them as rows and columns instead of retyping them by hand.
Starting from templates for timesheets and budgets
The app includes ready-made spreadsheet templates. The listing names timesheets and budget spreadsheets as examples.
A template gives you a structure to fill in, so you do not have to set up the columns and formulas yourself.
Sharing a spreadsheet and editing it together
You can share a spreadsheet with collaborators and set a different permission level for each person. The listing says several people can work in the same file in real time.
Sharing and live collaboration are part of working online, so they need a sign-up.
