ガールズ＆パンツァー 戦車道大作戦！ is the official app for the Girls und Panzer franchise, built as a strategy simulation about running a tank team in the series' world. It is free to play and needs no registration, though some items are paid. The game can be played on a phone wherever you are.
It suits fans who want to assemble their own team from the series' characters and tanks and then see how that team fares in matches. Nobody needs a tank-game background to start, because the core loop is picking people and machines and giving orders.
The premise is recruiting strong students from across the country, not only from one school, and pairing each with a tank. The listing presents the result as a dream team that you assemble yourself.
Units are arranged into platoons of up to five tank teams. The developer says platoon formation decides the outcome of a match, so who you field and how you group them is the main decision before a battle starts.
Matches use two rule sets: flag battles, where the objective is a flag, and annihilation battles, where the aim is to destroy the opposing force. Each uses the platoon you built before the match.
During a battle you issue command instructions to each team to set what it does. The listing frames these instructions as the way to steer the platoon toward a win.
The game includes original illustrations drawn for it, among them students in costumes that do not usually appear in the anime. These are shown alongside the characters rather than in a separate gallery, according to the listing.
Voice lines were recorded for the game by the anime's cast. The developer says they play during matches and in the school screen, called the my page, as well as on the team formation screens.
