What Chordana Play is for

Chordana Play is a music app from Casio built around learning songs. The listing presents it as a way to work through songs you already like, and it says the app can be practised on a smartphone or tablet.

Lesson mode is the feature the listing names most, and the connection notes suggest the app is meant to be used alongside a MIDI instrument.

Lesson mode and practice on a phone or tablet

Lesson mode is the core of the app, according to the listing. Because the app runs on a phone or tablet, the developer says you can practise away from a keyboard or desk as well as at home.

The listing does not describe the lessons in further detail, so their structure and content are not covered here.

Connecting a MIDI instrument

Lesson mode can be used with a MIDI connection. The developer lists two routes: a USB cable, and Bluetooth through the Wireless MIDI & Audio Adaptor (WU-BT10).

The Bluetooth route depends on that adaptor. The developer's notes on Bluetooth MIDI all refer to the WU-BT10, so a Bluetooth connection without it is not described.

Bluetooth MIDI problem on Android 13

The developer reports a bug on Android 13 that stops some functions from working when Bluetooth MIDI is used with the WU-BT10. The developer says the bug does not occur on Android 12 or earlier, or when a USB cable is used.

The developer says a March 2023 monthly update resolved the bug on Pixel phones, excluding the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. Fixes on other devices depend on the manufacturer. The developer asks users not to use the app on Android 13 until the issue is resolved.
