What Imposter Game Party Edition is

Imposter Game Party Edition is a word-and-bluffing game for a group sitting in one room. It needs at least three players, and the developer says it runs without an internet connection. The listing pitches it at friends, family, school trips and parties.

Most of the game is spoken. The app hands out the secret words and keeps track of who is the imposter, and the players do the rest by talking, describing and accusing each other.

How a round of secret words plays out

At the start of each round, every player is shown a secret word, except one player who is shown only the word IMPOSTER. Each player then gives a clue in a single sentence, going around the group in turn. The imposter has to work out the word from what others say, while still sounding like they know it.

After the clues, the group discusses who seems to be lying and votes. The round is about reading people and bluffing as much as about the word itself.

Find the Liar mode and the vote

Find the Liar is a separate mode in the app. Everyone is asked the same question, except one player, who secretly gets a different one. Each player answers in turn, and the answers are compared.

Once everyone has answered, the group debates and votes on who they think the liar is. The listing presents this as a new mode added alongside the original word rounds.

Categories, difficulty levels and offline play

The app offers multiple categories of words and several difficulty levels, so a group can pick a set that suits its age and mood. The listing says it is easy to learn and quick to start, which means there are no long setup steps before the first round.
