A grown-up's app for SMART Play sets

LEGO SMART Assist is a companion app from LEGO System A/S for adults who own LEGO SMART Play sets. It is where the adult handles the SMART Bricks inside a set, while the child keeps building and playing. The developer describes it as a way for adults to get the most out of SMART Play.

Registering and naming SMART Bricks

You connect each SMART Brick and register it to an adult LEGO Account. Once registered, each brick can be given its own name, which makes several bricks easier to tell apart. Volume controls for the bricks are managed from the same place.

Checking battery and available updates

The status view shows the battery level of each SMART Brick and whether an update is available for it. Updates add new play features to SMART Play sets, according to the listing. Both the status and the updates depend on the bricks being registered to your account.

Charger-only connection during play

SMART Bricks connect to the app only while they sit on the charger. The developer presents this as a way to keep playtime uninterrupted. The app also includes guidance and support for starting with SMART Play sets.
